Care tips for your curtains – material of the curtains Nowadays most curtains are made from polyester, which belongs to the group of synthetic fibres. Other curtains are made of cotton. Both kinds of curtains can be washed and cleansed without any problems. In the following you will receive some care tips for your curtains. Carefully take down the curtains and follow the care instructions on the label (if existent). Remove any pins, rolling rings, fold stretchers and similar things before washing. In case the removal of the rolling rings is not possible, you can also put this part of the curtain in a separate wash bag. Watch out that the part with the rings is well integrated in order to avoid any damage of the curtain cloth. (Waschbeutel, Rollringe, Gardinenstoff)

You can wash the curtains either manually or with the washing machine. Put the curtains into the drum of your washing machine and choose the gentle wash option.
Pay attention to the fact that the curtains have enough space in the machine and fill only a quarter of it, so that they can be rinsed well. Set the machine for 30 degrees (unless the producer recommends something different) and use a mild or special detergent. . (Waschmaschine, Feinwaschmittel, Spezialwaschmittel)

With curtains that have turned grey you can add some bleaching oxygen. A further care tip is that you better never spin-dry your curtains. Choose a programme between 20 and 25 minutes of washing length and watch out that the curtains are rinsed well. Alternatively, curtains can be washed in the bathtub.

In doing so, they are first rinsed coldly and then they are washed at 30 degrees. Never rub the curtains, but only swing them in the water. The washed curtains are then hang up again in the wet condition and arranged. Especially with cotton curtains careful ironing can be necessary.
